Mid North Coast Girls Surf Classic 2010

Contest Report
Well, well, well it finally happened, Mother Nature tested the competitive surfers’ spirit, dedication and commitment to the sport of surfing. It had to happen and 2010 was the year. We have been so lucky for the last 5 years to have the perfect conditions in and out of the water, however this year was wet, windy and cold a surfers, contest directors, members & spectators alike worst nightmare.
AND guess what Mother Nature did not beat us! I knew it wouldn’t with the calibre of committee members, club members and competitors involved each year in the Classic.
MNCGS Committee, Club Members, Families & Friends you did us so so proud. I am so overwhelmed with the response this year to our now “FAMOUS” Classic. No word of a lie I have received that many e-mails leading up to the Classic and been inundated with thank you e-mails after the event, wanting to know have we set the date for next years. (Wow give us a break! But yes we have Sat 8th Sun 9th October, 2011.)
I know I probably sound like I gibber a lot but fair dinkum when you have been involved in surfing as long as I have especially at competition level you really get to experience human nature as well as mother nature. Mother Nature you can’t control, but human nature you can, and here at MNCGS we have found the secret that enables girls & women of any age, any ability to enjoy surfing in a non-threatening environment.
At the Classic with our unique contest format where you are judged on consistency over the 2 days it alleviates the CUT THROAT competitive edge. I am stoked to say that we had 40 heats in 2 days and as contest director did not receive one complaint.
Oh I lie, the crew from up Sawtell were complaining that the MNCGS crew were all too friendly, were all too organised and could not believe our get up. Tent, trailer, sound system, chairs, clothing, stubby holders, mega raffle – they have booked for next year!
I don’t usually like to thank people specifically, in the case of missing out on someone, trust me no one goes unnoticed however I am going to break that rule and thank Donna Eames (Taylee’s mum). She created the most amazing photo slideshow of the Classic. I am going to bring my laptop to the November Contest so you can all have a look at it. Thank You Donna.
So overall the contest was another fantastic success, although conditions were pretty terrible. Results are as follows:

The conditions were wet, cold, windy onshore, however this did not deter our spirit. We had a fantastic weekend of surfing with lots of laughs and lots of new friendships.
