About Us

The Mid North Coast Girls Surfriders Inc was established:

  • to meet the needs of female surfers and potential surfers on the Mid North Coast;
  • to promote girls surfing, fun, fitness & friendship;
  • to promote the enjoyment of surfing;
  • to promote full participation of all our members regardless of ability;
  • to let female surfers have the opportunity to surf in an atmosphere free of aggression and put downs.
  • to be a relaxed club where girls can learn to surf, improve and compete in a non-threatening environment.

Our competition format is designed to be totally non-threatening, thus encouraging all girls regardless of age, ability and confidence level to have a go and be supported by all other club members and officials.

We are not a win-at-all-costs club. We focus all our activities, the way in which we conduct our club days, and the manner in which we relate to our members on co-operation, collaboration, mutual support & encouragement, not on competition.

Our officials & helpers are volunteers. They are to be treated with absolute respect and the gratitude of all those involved in the club. Without them the club could not exist.

Everything we do and how we do it is based around these values.

Code of Responsibility

Members please be aware that there are inherit risks in surfing activities that common sense and personal awareness can reduce. Observe the Girls Surfriders Code of Responsibility for a great surfing session.

Entering and leaving the water be careful of shore dumpers, possible rips, rocks and other surfers.
Watch for items that may be floating in the water.

Know your ability: Be in control of your board and your body. If you feel that the conditions are beyond your comfort zone, don’t be compelled to enter the water, ask yourself: "Am I going to enjoy this surf?"

Be Alert: Watch out for other surfers, loose boards, shallow water, slippery rocks, anyone in difficulty and don’t knowingly drop in. Check that your board and leg rope are in good order and protect yourself from the sun and the cold.
